BT Scaffolding is committed to conducting all of its business honestly, transparently, and with integrity. We have a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption in any form.
We comply fully with the Criminal Justice (Corruption Offences) Act 2018 and the UK Bribery Act 2010, and we expect the same high standards from all employees, contractors, suppliers, and anyone acting on our behalf.
Our Commitment
We will never offer, give, request, or accept bribes or improper payments of any kind. Our reputation is built on trust, and we work hard to maintain that by promoting fair, ethical, and lawful business practices at all times.
All employees are expected to act with honesty and integrity, avoiding any behaviour that could suggest an attempt to influence a business decision unfairly.
Understanding Bribery and Corruption
Bribery means offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting something of value to influence a decision or gain an improper advantage.
Corruption refers to dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery or abuse of authority.
Examples include:
- Offering or accepting cash or gifts in exchange for favourable treatment.
- Providing hospitality or entertainment intended to influence a contract decision.
- Making facilitation payments or “kickbacks” to speed up or secure approvals.
- Donating to a cause or organisation in return for business advantage.
Gifts and Hospitality
We understand that occasional, modest hospitality or gifts may form part of normal business relationships. However, any such gestures must always be:
- Reasonable and proportionate.
- Openly declared and recorded.
- Not intended to influence a business decision.
Employees must seek approval from management before accepting or offering any gift or hospitality that could be seen as excessive or inappropriate.
Facilitation Payments and Political Contributions
BT Scaffolding strictly prohibits facilitation payments — small unofficial payments made to secure or speed up routine actions.
We also do not make political donations or contributions to political parties, candidates, or organisations in any circumstances.
Responsibilities
Every employee, subcontractor, and supplier is responsible for ensuring that their conduct aligns with this policy.
Managers are responsible for promoting awareness, providing guidance, and ensuring compliance throughout their teams. Any breach of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment or contract.
Raising Concerns
We encourage all staff and business partners to report any suspicion of bribery, corruption, or unethical behaviour immediately.
Concerns can be raised confidentially with senior management or by emailing info@btscaffolding.ie.
BT Scaffolding will treat all reports seriously and investigate promptly. We will not tolerate retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith.
Training and Awareness
We provide training and regular updates to ensure that all employees understand the risks associated with bribery and corruption and know how to recognise and report it.
Suppliers and subcontractors are also informed of our anti-bribery expectations and are required to adhere to them as a condition of doing business with us.
Continuous Improvement
BT Scaffolding reviews this policy regularly to ensure it remains relevant, effective, and compliant with current legislation. We are committed to continuously improving our internal controls and business practices to prevent corruption and promote ethical behaviour.
Review and Responsibility
This policy is reviewed annually by BT Scaffolding’s management team. Ultimate responsibility for implementation and enforcement rests with senior management.
Every individual working for or on behalf of BT Scaffolding has a duty to uphold this policy and act with integrity at all times.
